i heard this on the radio this morning while waking up.
since this is a 3-day weekend and the weather's been incredibly warm and nice, the people of montreal have started their gardens. but there's a strange new trend going on in the montreal flower shops this year (which i'm sure is not just limited to this city but it's a nice local thing that i'm hoping is representative of a bigger whole). people are buying more white flowers. strange, uh? a worker at the atwater flower shop has asked some of the patrons why the shift to white and their answer was one that caught me off-guard - it's a symbol for peace.
i find it very cool that something like this is just happening out of the blue without any warning or some sort of public discussion.
it's just a spontaneous need of the people.
nice, uh?
just when i thought the anti-war movement had lost because of the war, here comes a silent portion of the public, still willing to believe in its cause.
that's very nice.
